Q1. Discuss the special features of Qutub Minar ?
Ans :- 
  1. The entrance is through the doorway on the northern side.
  2. The minar is a circular tower about 13.8 metres in diameter at the base and tapers to the width of around 3 metres at the summit.
  3. It has a circular stairway of 379 steps leading to the top.
  4. The balconies of the tower are supported in such a way that the whole structure takes the load of weight.
  5. Verses from the Holy Quran and some intricate carvings with floral motifs are inscribed on this tower.
Q2. Mention the military reforms introduced by Alauddin Khilji ?
Ans:- 
  1. He laid the foundation of permanent standing army.
  2. He imported quality horses and started the system of branding horses (dagh) so that the soldiers could not replace them with inferior quality horses.
  3. He also introduced the system of chehra, i.e., giving a kind of identity card for every soldier.
  4. He himself approved all recruitments to the army and paid cash salaries to the soldiers from the royal treasury.
Q3. What were the steps taken by Alauddin Khilji to regulate prices ?
Ans :- 
  1. Alauddin fixed the cost of all commodities such as food grains, sugar and cooking oil.
  2. He set up three markets at Delhi – i. Food grains ii. Costly cloths iii. Horses, slaves and cattle
  3. Each market was put under the charge of a controller of market (shahna).
  4. Strict punishments were prescribed for cheating and under weighing goods.
