Independence Day


August 15, 1947 is a day of pride for our country. As a result of the sacrifice of many patriots, our country became independent on this day. This day is celebrated with great joy and enthusiasm across the country as Independence Day.

Many leaders like Lok Manya Tilak, Subhash Chandra Bose, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Mahatma Gandhi, Lala Lajpat Rai etc. struggled to liberate Mother India. Lokmanya Tilak had said that self-rule is our birth right. We will take it. Subhash Chandra Bose had challenged the Indians and said - "Give me blood and I will give you freedom." Mahatma Gandhi also gave the slogan of 'Do or Die' in 1942.

On August 15, 1947, India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi. Since then, the national flag is hoisted here every year on 15th August. On this day, the Prime Minister of India hoists the national flag at the Red Fort and gives a message to the nation.
